…John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Robert Kennedy ,Teddy Kennedy The three brothers made their individual contributions between 1953 and 2009 and each in their way shaped the global role of the world's greatest power. Jack, Bobby and Ted were part of leading change in the world in profound ways while they represented their country. The Kennedy family’s deep commitment to Ireland’s advancement has been consistent down the generations and still continues. In 2022 Joseph Kennedy the 3 rd was appointed Special Envoy for Northern Ireland. John Mulcahy 

Jack Mulcahy (1906 to 1994 born in Dungarvan, Co Waterford) – Former Chairman of Pfizer USA. Jack was instrumental in bringing Pfizer’s first manufacturing plant in Europe to Ringaskiddy, Cork in 1969. This first step has led to €9bn investment in Ireland, and to the employment of 5,000 staff.

Chuck Feeney

Chuck Feeney (1931 to 2023 – born in New Jersey Ire/US Citizen) - Founder of Duty Free Shoppers & Atlantic Philanthropies. Donated $8bl to various social causes in his lifetime - including $1bl to Irish universities UL and DCU. Chuck changed the lives of so many in his own lifetime. He was a quiet but significant contributor to Northern Ireland peace process. In October 2023 Chuck was buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin

Neville Isdell

Mike Feerick - Ireland Reaching Out

Mike has created a wonderful resource in Ireland Reaching Out. It aims to strengthen Irish local communities across the Island of Ireland, north and south, as well as diaspora communities around the world. It is guided by a Board of Directors who are leaders in different areas of Diaspora interest.

Sean Lemass

(1899 to 1971)  Sean Lemass was the driving force behind the changes reforms that opened up the Irish economy to the outside world, from the time he was elected Taoiseach in 1959.  His policies included tax incentives for exporting companies, support for the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), and infrastructure and improvements aimed at attracting foreign companies, particularly from the United States. Ken Whitaker, deserves a special mention, it was he as Secretary of the Department of Finaance from 1956 to 1969 who authored the “Economic Development” report in 1958.  This blueprint was implemented by Sean Lemass thus implemementing a set of policies that resulted in Ireland becoming a country of prosperity.

Patrick and John Collison

 John and Patrick Collison from Co Limerick are our youngest heroes!.. They began growing their fintech company in California and have now opened their European headquarters in Dublin.  This reinforces the country’s reputation as to how Irish start-ups can become global companies and has drawn the attention of investors to Ireland.  John and Patrick Collison have made significant contributions to educational and cultural institutions in Ireland. Their story has also serves as an inspirational example to young Irish entrepreneurs of what can be achieved, encouraging others to aim high and think globally.
